Medication Aide


Description
MedTech is an unlicensed individual who can assist with medication administration or self- medication. The course is designed to meet Florida status self-administration 429.256, F.S., and Rule 58A-5.0185, F.A.C. The certification provides student with 6 hours of training to provide clients who lives in Assisted Living Facility (AFLF), group homes, drug treatment centers, and adult care homes. The course consists of medication administration for pills, liquid, eye drops, ear drops, ointments, sublingual, nasal, trans-dermal inhalants, insulin pens.

Objective: Student will learn:
1. Florida law and rules as it relates to medication administration, assistance, and supervision.
2. To read doctor orders, transcript prescription medication on MAR, and read prescription medication.
3. The 6 rights to medication administration.
4. Medication side effective, adverse reaction, and management.
5. Medication documentation.
6. Medication Storage and disposal.
7. Learn to demonstrate hands-on medication administration.

After completion of course student will receive 6- hour certification which is valid for 1 year.

Recertification course is 2 hours renewal course.
